[Logwatch] logwatch and Mac OS X: mailer = sendmail vs. procmail vs. mail

I'm having trouble getting logwatch to mail its reports to me. Since
Mac OS X doesn't have sendmail installed (and since I'd rather not
install it just for logwatch), I understand that I need to change the
"mailer" parameter in the logwatch config file to something else,
postfix and mail being the obvious choices.

Unfortunately, neither is working for me. If I use "mailer =
postfix", I get a postfix error: "(postfix/postfix-script: fatal:
postfix start (or stop, reload, abort, flush, check, set-permissions,
upgrade configuration)". (Postfix is otherwise working, btw -- I can
send and receive mail on the machine. If I use "mailer = mail" (or /
usr/bin/mail), I can see mail getting invoked by logwatch, but it
looks like it's taking the contents of the mail file and running it
through Logwatch or something else -- I get lots of lines that look
like "Unknown command: 'To'", etc.

I've probably done something wrong; can anyone get me back on track?
Thanks much.
